Scientists believe that the body cannot produce enough GSH to keep detoxifying the system of the copious amounts of environmental pollution and free-radicals that humans are exposed to every day. They also believe that when the body becomes overwhelmed with heavy metal toxins, the immune system, including the body's GSH production mechanism, becomes compromised, allowing the build up of more heavy metals.
The law of equilibrium dictates that increasing the concentrations of the GSH building blocks will increase the likelihood that the cells will synthesize more GSH, which will in turn chelate/conjugate and eliminate larger amounts of toxic heavy metals.
This building block approach is more effective than standard GSH supplementation for 2 reasons:
